Price Station - React Website

April 2023

Group Project using React, Node.js, CSS, Javascript, Mapbox GI's API in 36 hours

Price Station is a website designed and built by myself and two others, as part of LA Hacks, in 36 hours. LA Hacks is hack-a-thon that took place from April 21 - 23, hosted by University of California, Los Angeles,

The goal of Price Station was to help users decide between different modes of transportation based on the cost to get from point A to point B. It would be similar to Google Maps, by displaying the cost of using a train or bus, but would also integrate the cost of using Uber.

During the 36 hour time frame, I worked on getting the API request to Mapbox GL in order to display an interactive map that users could zoom / scroll about. My partner worked on the front-end, like the various buttons, search bar, and logo, while my other partner worked on the back-end, getting the user's input data in order to acquire the longitude and latitude of the user's destination.

It was my first time working with React js, Node.js, CSS and Javascript. While we were unable to complete the project in time, I found the experience incredibly empowering. I was exposed to different tools and was proud we were able to demo to judges in a science-fair like competition.
